About our Company
OUR HISTORY
It all began in 2014 in Bairnsdale. A year later, we opened our first store in Sale, selling the Bairnsdale location and giving everything to Mick’s Father, never touching the profits—a first offering of sorts.
In 2016, we expanded to Traralgon, but the following years were some of the toughest. From 2017 through 2019, we faced relentless challenges, with team members leaving, personal hardships, and hitting rock bottom.
By the five-year mark, we were at a crossroads, completely surrendering to God. In 2020, the founders united, dedicating everything to Him, seeking His purpose in our business. We realized Pika Sushi wasn’t just for us—it was a tool to show others that God exists, loves us, and guides us when we rely on Him. Pika Sushi became His work, not ours.
From there, we expanded to Warragul, Phillip Island, Hastings, Mornington, and Drouin. And the story continues, with each new chapter written by those who carry the torch forward.

Michael’s journey with sushi began in 2016 when he opened his first shop in Sale, VIC. Driven by a deep passion for sushi and a clear vision, he founded Pika Sushi with a commitment to quality and innovation. Michael’s strong leadership and relentless work ethic quickly made him the heart of the brand, guiding it from a small shop to a thriving business.
Under Michael’s guidance, Pika Sushi has flourished, expanding its reach while staying true to its core values. He is constantly seeking new ways to innovate and seize expansion opportunities, all while ensuring that excellence is maintained in every aspect of the business. For Michael, it’s not just about making sushi; it’s about delivering an exceptional experience to every customer and leading the Pika Sushi team with integrity and vision.
